About Karin Laudin – My Story
I worked as a medical doctor and psychiatrist for over 25 years. I grew up in South Africa where I trained to be a doctor and worked as a GP and hospital doctor. I came to work in the NHS and became a consultant psychiatrist.
I have experienced the challenges of relocating to a new country and working in a different healthcare system. The NHS is like a country within a country! Starting again as a junior doctor and training in a new specialty was challenging and rewarding. Along the way I have had support from peers, mentors, family and friends.
In 2010 I took an adult gap year which allowed me to satisfy (not completely) a long-held dream of travelling. I returned to work with a new perspective.
In 2015 I began my career change of becoming a coach and trained with The Coaching Academy, obtaining my diploma as a Personal Performance Coach. Over the next few years I combined working as a coach with working as a psychiatrist.
For almost a decade I have found mindfulness practice to be a support in my life. It has helped me to focus on my wellbeing and to cope with the stress that life throws at us. In 2020 I trained as a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction/MBSR teacher.
Coaching and teaching mindfulness enable me to work with you and those like you who want to improve their health and wellbeing, to make change happen and to make the most of this life.
